Who am I?
My name is David Cycleback, Ph.D. I’m a cognitive scientist, philosopher, and artifacts historian with a focus on how brain function relates to knowledge, beliefs, and behavior. My research spans a range of topics, including mental disorders such as autism, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia, as well as group behavior, art perception, and artificial intelligence.
I am the retired Director of Center for Artifact Studies, a member of the British Royal Institute of Philosophy and the American Philosophical Association, and the author of ten peer-reviewed university textbooks. These include Nature and Limits of Human Knowledge, Cognitive Science of Religion and Belief Systems, and Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence. My most recent book, The Psychology of Decision Making, was published by Bookboon in London.
In the field of artifacts history and museology, I’ve written several standard references, including Authenticating Art and Artifacts: An Introduction to Methods and Issues, and Judging the Authenticity of Photographs.
