Boccioni is fabulous. Whatever the politics of the Futurists were they produced some wonderful art. I miss them whenever I visit a museum. What an age of hope.
I've always thought of this piece as a body moving simultaneously differently - all the possible moves a body might make or take within a given space a body might inhabit when moving forward. There's a kind of rounded stuttering flow that I see in Nude Descending a Staircase. Multiple versions of a figure in motion layered and lagged.
