How would you create a church that celebrates the worth and dignity of authoritarian leaders whose actions are not in line with UU principles. Unfortunately hyperpartisanism might work as a means to support the 7 principles. Unfortunately, the current UU leadership has abandoned our principles and as such the hyperpartisan movement serves to divide us as a community that shares similar values.

I didn't say everyone should be allowed to be UUs. I write that UUs should hone a mindset that works to understand people, including those who are not UUs.

But it seems that at least for the past 5 years leaders have worked to purge those who hold that mindset from congregational leadership and membership. Who will do the honing? Are there UUs who have a loud enough voice to articulate and communicate that mindset to a seemingly indifferent membership. UU congregants are not much different in their response to UU's authoritarian evolution from voters who ignored Trump's transgressions while America installed authoritarians. I fear that we have become a generation willing to simply sit back blind to the impact changes will have on them.
